The Educational Banger

First off I need to shout out Pipomixes http://pipomixes.blogspot.com/(that blog is the truth) My man has some offical mixes posted and that's where I got this.

Ok Questlove drummer, Dj, producer and like myself from da illadelph has a sample mix.

I recommend mixes that educate us on the "originals" this helps us understand and appreciate Premo, Pete Rock and Dilla even more. For you kiddies out there pay attention while Quest doesn't Jazzy Jeff or Cash Money it on the one's and two's he does keep it moving. I promise you there will be plenty of WTF's and hell naws as you bang this.

PS. Glad to see that the Roots are safe on Tour in Europe too!!!!!!
Until the next post remember "be in control.........because well somebody has to be"

Brazilian Flavor

John Beltran's "In Full Color" is his sixth album and he dives deeper into his latin roots but also brings the music full-circle integrating the ambient warmth and electronic sounds found on his first few albums. Beltran spent the time to make sure the album's tracks, whether it be full-on club tunes like "Kissed By The Sun" (described by XLR8R as a "sunny, conga-fueled samba shuffle") or "Candela" ("An absolute stormer!" exclaims Rainer Trüby), the more ambient passages like "Rain In Shibuya" and "Pictures And Indian Summer" or bossa tunes like "Dia Brioso," were as big and bold or as subtle and musically engaging as they could and should be. With lush pads and chord progressions fused with Latin vibes, rhythm programming, soaring vocal chorus, live performances and vocal collaborations this album showcases the growth of a unique producer/composer and catches him in full color. Helping reach this next level are very special guests from around the world: Producer Andreas Saag and partner/amazing vocalist Elsa Hedberg from Sweden (of Stateless, Swell Session, etc) collaborated on the enchanting "Starlight Memories." The multi-talented vocalist and keyboard player Ayro and fellow Detroit guitarist/producer John Arnold are all over the album. Colonel Red appears on "Your Colors." Lastly, the Candela Arts crew, including Local 12 (Turntables On The Hudson, etc), from Puerto Rico round out the long distance collaborations. In fact at the recent Candela Arts festival in Puerto Rico dubplates of "Candela" were thoroughly rinsed by the all-star DJ line-up and the tune quickly became a party anthem in old San Juan.

Good Music....

Enjoy!!!

Listen to this!!!

Just a lil sumn I found a couple years back. Nice vibe to it. I like the musical direction. Something a lil different from the norm. Reminds me of the early 90's, which in my own opinion, was the very best era of hip hop.

Get it chea! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PAU9HJP7

La Melodia represents warm, soulful hiphop with a raw touch, brought to you by a Dutch duo: MC Melodee and DJ/producer I.N.T.
Currently residing in Amsterdam, the two originally met in industrial city Eindhoven where hiphop heads live by a “do-it-yourself” mentality; creating their own soundsystems, organizing squat parties and running their own record store. It was within this underground atmosphere that I.N.T. developed his DJ/production skills and Melodee first stepped on stage.
After several projects the two decided to independently release their own 12″ single which lead to a European tour alongside Stones Throw artists Oh No, Wildchild and Percee P. Upon their return home they were approached by Japanese label Handcuts Records who released their debut album “Vibing High” in 2006. A year later the album was released in the Benelux by PIAS and currently the album is available worldwide via iTunes.
Outside of La Melodia, Melodee is a resident host at popular parties & clubs throughout Holland. Next to her weekly radioshow Future Vintage, she works for Kindred Spirits Records, and she features on releases by producers all over the globe.
I.N.T. has released instrumental projects on labels such as Kindred Spirits, Fat City and Sonar Kollektiv. He was featured on 4Hero’s “Mixing…” compilation and produced tracks and remixes for Frank-N- Dank, Roc C, Rednose Distrikt & others.

03 Nov 08 - Today's Music Picks

BYRON & ONRA - The Big Payback (Circulations Japan) Comentários: hip hop; broken beat; Byron, 19 years old, is coming from Alabama, and plays piano since the age of 6. He discovered Onra, 26, French beatmaker from Paris, on Myspace at the end of 2005. They exchanged music files for months and start this prolific collaboration, completing over 30 songs in just 4 months. Onra is taking care of the drums patterns and Byron is handling the melodic part of the project, playing vintage electric keyboard Fender Rhodes and different synthesizers. You can tell there is a perfect alchemy between their two styles, and their first demos instantly grabbed the attention of several influent Internet DJ’s. Half instrumental, The Big Payback invited numerous vocal guests, giving a much more accessible aspect to the music, at the same time for specialists and open to the mainstream crowd. The guests are Isis, an MC/singer from Toronto, whose group Thunderheist will surely blow worldwide real soon, New Yorker Peter Hadar, Detroit Diva Neco Redd, flutist Julien Marc, and the beatmaker/MC Dal-Gren from Paris, the other revelation from this album. The Big Payback has also a track called “Cosmic Travelling” on the "Beat Dimensions" compilation, selected by Spacek’s own DJ Jay Scarlett and Cinnaman, released on Dutch label Rush Hour.

Is Dela Japanese? Most of his records are only available as Japanese imports if you’re trying to buy them in the U.S. But that French song title …It doesn’t matter (although, for full disclosure, Dela hails from Paris). What’s important is that "Changes of Atmosphere" is yet another sign that French hip-hop producers are not far behind their American counterparts when it comes to crafting jazzy, soulful beats.Fellow Parisians the Jazz Liberatorz released the excellent "Clin d’Oeil" in early ’08, mixing funked-out jazz licks with verses from some of indy hip-hop’s brightest stars. Ditto for Dela, who pairs up with J-Live, Large Professor, Talib Kweli and more to bring mellow, Rhodes-piano bliss and bouncy, slightly-scuffed drums. After a spoken-word intro, “I Say Peace” kicks things off with a loping, swooping flute and J-Live nimble rhymes. Pittsburgh MC J. Sands, of the Lone Catalysts, drops in for a few verses amid the gently-washing square-wave keyboards of “Live the Life,” and a syncopated drum loop injects an extra bit of soul into the lite-jazz melody of Talib Kweli’s “Long Life.”If you’re in the mood for a little high-speed French rap – and really, who isn’t? – Les Nubians guest on “Veuillez Veiller Sur Vos Reves,” and Large Professor’s “Chill” is better than just about every track on his newest album, "Main Source.""Changes of Atmosphere" is definitely not for bumping in the club, although there are several danceable tracks. The majority of the album is an excellent blend of jazz, soul and hip-hop, perfect for throwing on during a relaxing evening at home.
